About Me.
Life can get heavy. Maybe you’re carrying something from your past that won’t let you rest, feeling disconnected from the people you love, or just running on empty and not quite sure how you got here. Whatever’s brought you to this moment — you don’t have to face it alone.
Trix Harvey is a counsellor who genuinely cares about the people she works with. With 10 years of experience — including specialised work with refugee trauma — she brings both warmth and deep expertise to every session. Her areas of focus include anxiety, trauma recovery, and relationship issues, and she works with each person as a whole: mind, body, and spirit.
Trix draws on evidence-based techniques and neuroplasticity principles to create personalised treatment plans that go beyond managing symptoms. Using a bio-psycho-social approach, she helps you understand the deeper patterns behind what you’re experiencing — and gently supports you in building something new.
Her practice is a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can say the things you’ve been afraid to say, explore what’s really going on, and start to reconnect with your own strengths. Trix works collaboratively with you — at your pace, on your terms.
If you’re ready to take that first step, she’d love to hear from you. Reach out today to schedule a consultation and begin your journey toward feeling like yourself again.
Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy for Adults
Drawing from her extensive work with the NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS) and training with global leaders like Dr Bessel van der Kolk, Dr Gabor Maté, and Dr Peter Levine, she has an in depth understanding of how trauma affects both the mind and body.
Culturally Sensitive and Holistic Care
Her experience working with diverse refugee communities at STARTTS has deepened her commitment to cultural competence. Through advanced training in cross-cultural assessment and relational therapy, she tailor her approach to meet the unique needs of adults from varied backgrounds, addressing challenges like intergenerational trauma, displacement, and resettlement. Her work is holistic, recognizing the interconnectedness of emotional, physical, and social well-being in the healing process.
Evidence-Based and Integrative Modalities
My therapeutic toolkit is informed by years of professional development and clinical practice, designed specifically for adult clients:
-
Trauma-Focused Therapies: Techniques such as somatic experiencing, mindfulness, and dissociation management (informed by Dr Peter Levine and Dr Cardena) help clients process trauma in a safe and empowering way.
-
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Schema therapy, CBT and Motivational Interviewing: These methods, honed through training and practice, support adults in building emotional regulation skills and fostering motivation for change.
-
Relational and Family Therapy: Advanced training in relational dynamics ensures I can address the impact of trauma on relationships, helping clients rebuild trust and connection.
-
Neuroscience-Informed Interventions: As an affiliated education center for Dr. Amen Clinics and with training in the Amen Method, she integrate brain-based insights into therapy. She also offer neurofeedback and biofeedback as complementary tools to support emotional regulation and resilience when appropriate.
Credentials:
She bring a wealth of experience and specialized training to Inner West Trauma Healing, with a focus on trauma-informed care, neurofeedback, and culturally sensitive therapy.
Her extensive experience in trauma counseling, neurofeedback, and team leadership—particularly with STARTTS—has equipped her with the skills to address complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and other challenges using evidence-based, neuroscience-informed approaches. Her work with diverse refugee communities and children underscores her commitment to culturally sensitive care, while her private practice demonstrates my ability to deliver tailored, compassionate support. These experiences align directly with Inner West Trauma Healing’s mission to provide holistic, trauma-focused care for individuals seeking recovery and resilience.
